Is microblading suitable for me?

Many people wonder if microblading is right for them. The majority of the time, microblading is a treatment available to anyone over the age of 18. However, there are some reasons why microblading might not be right for you.

Microblading is not suitable for you if:

  • You are under the age of 18
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are on blood-thinning medication
  • You have a contagious skin condition
  • You are currently going through treatment for cancer including chemotherapy* (please consult your doctor)
  • You have HIV
  • You have a circulatory disorder
  • You have moles in the treatment area
  • You suffer from keloid or hypertrophic scarring
  • You have diagnosed scleroderma
  • You have had dermabrasion in the last 6 months
  • You have had chemical peels
  • You have a heart disorder
  • You have Haemophilia
  • You have Hepatitis
  • You have active skin cancer
  • You have moles in the treatment area
  • You have very oily skin

Factors that may require approval from your GP or Doctor or that may restrict the treatment include:

  • You have insulin-controlled diabetes
  • You have epilepsy
  • You suffer from hyperpigmentation
  • You've had facial surgery
  • You have allergies
  • You've recently had injectables such as Botox treatment (please wait 4 weeks before booking a microblading appointment)
  • You have an auto-immune disease

If you are taking iron tablets or are anemic, the pigments used in the treatment may not retain in your skin.

The use of sunbeds and improper aftercare will significantly reduce pigment retention.

*If you are currently undergoing treatment for cancer, it is not advised that you have the microblading treatment due to the increased risk of infection, however, please speak to your microblading technician about this.
You may have microblading treatment before or after undergoing your treatment, with consent from your doctor and subject to a consultation, patch test and completed medical health form.

Please get in touch if you are unsure if microblading is right for you.
